Chichester, West Sussex

The closest major town is Chichester. It is one of the great well-preserved Georgian cities in the UK and has played a key role of the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. There are many walking paths that take you passed Roman built walls. The walls were originally just earth embankments, but over time they become reinforced and by medieval times they were 2-3m high flint walls that we still see in many places around Chichester.
